The Archives of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (APPS) is a Gold Open Access journal. To sustain rigorous peer review, professional production, and perpetual online access, APPS applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) payable only after manuscript acceptance. This page consolidates and clarifies the fee and related policies as presented on the legacy APC page while aligning wording and layout with current best practices.

1) Why APCs?

APCs finance article handling from submission to publication: editorial screening and coordination, anonymous peer review, plagiarism checks, copyediting and typesetting, DOI registration and maintenance, XML/HTML/PDF creation, web hosting, indexing exposure, and long-term preservation. Consistent with the legacy page, APPS does not charge submission fees and does not add hidden surcharges.

  • No submission charges: Manuscripts are evaluated without any upfront fee; only accepted articles incur the APC.
  • Transparent pricing: The fee is communicated early and invoiced upon acceptance only.

2) Current APC (as listed on the legacy page)

The legacy APC page lists the following journal-specific amount for APPS (ISSN 2639-992X):

Journal Short Name ISSN APC (USD)
Archives of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences APPS 2639-992X $2,949

Amount reproduced from: Article Processing Charges (see fee list table).

3) Waivers & Discounts

The legacy APC page notes that authors may request a waiver or discount, including up to 50% in eligible cases, particularly for authors from countries on the World Bank’s low or lower-middle-income lists, and for authors who document genuine financial constraints. Waiver requests must be made at the time of submission.

  • Eligibility: Consideration of manuscript quality, methodological rigor, uniqueness of objectives, and ethical aspects, as stated on the legacy page.
  • When to apply: Submit waiver requests during initial submission; late requests are generally not considered.

4) What the APC Covers

  • Editorial triage and peer-review coordination (double-blind workflow, where applicable).
  • Similarity checks and research-integrity screening.
  • Professional copyediting and typesetting; figure handling and proof generation.
  • DOI registration and ongoing maintenance.
  • Online hosting with issue/volume organization and back-issue access.
  • Long-term preservation/archiving exposure and indexing support.

No additional surcharges for color figures or supplementary files are indicated on the legacy page; rejected manuscripts carry no fees.

5) Payment, Invoices & Timing

Invoices are issued after acceptance. Payment methods typically include secure online gateways or bank transfers. To prevent delays, authors should confirm institutional or funder coverage ahead of time and ensure the corresponding author’s contact information is current. Any billing questions can be directed to the editorial office via the contact options below.

6) Refunds & Withdrawals

The journal maintains separate policies for refunds and withdrawals. Generally, refunds are exceptional (e.g., duplicate payments or publisher error), whereas withdrawals after acceptance may attract administrative charges because editorial and production work has already occurred. Please review:

7) Transparency & Compliance

This APC page reflects the fee and waiver language from the legacy site and organizes it for clarity and accessibility. Authors should also consult related pages (Open Access, Licensing) so that reuse permissions and funding mandates are understood prior to submission.
