Open Access Statement
The Archives of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (APPS) is an open-access journal. As described on the journal’s policy pages, all accepted articles are made freely and permanently available online, and published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Readers may read, download, share, and adapt the work with appropriate credit to authors and the journal.
Primary source: Open Access Policy and Licensing Policy.
1) Our Open Access Model
APPS publishes all content with immediate, barrier-free access upon publication. The site’s Open Access Policy explains that the journal subscribes to the principles articulated by major open-access declarations (Budapest, Bethesda, Berlin). In practical terms, this means there are no subscription paywalls for readers, and articles may be reused according to the CC BY 4.0 terms.
- Immediate availability: Articles are accessible to all users worldwide without registration or access fees.
- Permissive reuse: CC BY 4.0 permits sharing and adaptation, including commercial use, provided attribution is given.
- Author rights: Authors retain copyright; the journal receives a license to publish.
For full legal details of reuse and attribution, consult the journal’s Licensing Policy and the Creative Commons license text.
2) Rights & Reuse Under CC BY 4.0
CC BY 4.0 is a globally recognized license that enables extensive reuse of scholarly content while preserving attribution. The table below summarizes what readers and authors can do with APPS articles, as framed by the journal’s policy pages and the CC BY 4.0 deed.
Action | Allowed? | Conditions | Policy Reference |
---|---|---|---|
Read, download, and share the article | Yes | Always free to all users | Open Access Policy |
Reuse figures/tables/text in new works | Yes | Credit authors and source; indicate changes | Licensing Policy, CC BY 4.0 |
Commercial reuse (e.g., textbooks, industry reports) | Yes | Attribution required; third-party content exclusions apply | Licensing Policy, CC BY 4.0 |
Text and data mining | Yes | Respect license and any data/privacy constraints | Open Access Policy |
Reuse of third-party material within an article | Depends | Check credits; obtain permission if not under CC BY | Licensing Policy |
3) Posting in Repositories & Personal Websites
The journal’s open-access and licensing pages specify that authors may post versions of their work in institutional or subject repositories and on personal or laboratory websites, provided the posting complies with the CC BY 4.0 terms and properly credits the version of record. Where available, authors should include the article DOI and a link to the journal page.
- Deposit the accepted or final published version with the DOI and a citation to the journal.
- Retain copyright notices and any credit lines associated with third-party content.
- For funder mandates, follow specific repository and metadata requirements as needed.
See: Open Access Policy and Licensing Policy.
4) Article Processing Charges (APCs)
APPS does not levy submission charges. To sustain gold open access, an Article Processing Charge (APC) is payable only upon acceptance. The APC amount and any waiver options are detailed on the journal’s dedicated pages.
Item | Amount (USD) | Where Stated |
---|---|---|
Standard APC (APPS) | $2,949 | Article Processing Charges |
See also the Waiver Policy for discount and waiver guidance.
5) Compliance, Discoverability & Attribution
Publishing under open-access terms supports broad dissemination and compliance with funder and institutional policies that require immediate access and permissive reuse. To maximize visibility and compliance, authors should provide complete metadata during submission—including ORCID iDs, funder names and grant numbers, keywords, and data availability statements—so that indexing services can accurately harvest and display article information.
- Attribution format: Cite author names, article title, journal name, year, volume/issue (if applicable), and DOI.
- Version of record: When reposting, include a link to the journal webpage and the DOI to guide readers to the authoritative version.
- Third-party material: Check figure captions and credit lines for any items with different permissions.
6) Questions About Rights, Reuse, or Posting
If you are unsure whether a specific reuse is covered by CC BY 4.0 or need help with repository deposits, please contact the editorial office. For reuses involving third-party materials not covered by CC BY 4.0, obtain permission from the rights holder before publication or redistribution.
