The Archives of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (APPS) follows a transparent and sustainable Charges Policy to support its open-access publishing model. This page consolidates information from the APC Policy and related payment policies, providing clarity to authors, institutions, and funders.

Sources: Article Processing Charges (APCs), Waiver Policy, and COPE transparency guidelines.

1) Article Processing Charges (APCs)

APPS applies APCs to cover costs associated with manuscript handling, peer review coordination, editorial management, typesetting, DOI registration, online hosting, archiving, and long-term access. These charges ensure sustainability of the Gold Open Access model, where articles are freely available immediately upon publication.

APC amounts are drawn from the journal’s official APC Policy page. Values are subject to periodic review by the publisher.

2) What APCs Cover

  • Editorial and peer review administration.
  • DOI registration and Crossref maintenance.
  • Copyediting, typesetting, and proof generation.
  • Online hosting and perpetual archiving.
  • Website management and indexing exposure.

3) Waivers and Discounts

APPS offers APC waivers and discounts in line with its Waiver Policy. Authors from low-income countries (as defined by the World Bank) may receive full or partial waivers. Discounted APCs may also be extended to early-career researchers, students, or authors facing exceptional financial hardship.

4) Additional Charges

Apart from APCs, authors may incur charges in special cases:

  • Color reproduction in print: Not applicable (APPS is online-only).
  • Article withdrawal charges: As specified in the Withdrawal Policy (USD 100–200 depending on stage).
  • Refunds: Managed under the Refund Policy.

5) Payment Methods

APCs can be paid via secure online gateways, wire transfers, or institutional billing (where applicable). Payment details are provided with acceptance notifications, and receipts are issued after confirmation.

6) Transparency and Compliance

APPS ensures that all charges are communicated clearly prior to submission. Authors are encouraged to consult APC and Waiver policies before submitting manuscripts. The journal’s policies comply with COPE recommendations and indexing requirements for transparency in publishing fees.
